Extract PDF tables into Excel online

OneFileKit PDF to Excel helps you pull tables and data from static PDF documents into editable spreadsheets. Whether you need invoice line items, report tables, or simple lists, this tool queues your file for secure server-side extraction into .xlsx.

Extraction quality depends on how the PDF was created. Native text PDFs with clear tables usually extract more reliably than scanned image-only pages or complex multi-column layouts. We do not claim perfect table extraction or one-to-one visual recreation — the goal is usable, editable Excel output with structure preserved where practical.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. This tool is free to use for extracting tables and data from PDFs into Excel files. No account is required for basic conversions.

We extract tables and data and preserve structure where possible, but complex layouts, merged cells, scanned pages or decorative formatting may not map perfectly. Always review the spreadsheet before relying on the numbers.

Scanned (image-only) PDFs often have no extractable text or tables. Those jobs return a clear error rather than an empty file. Text-based PDFs with real tables convert most reliably.

By default, uploads are limited to 50MB. Administrators can raise or lower this limit with the TOOL_MAX_FILE_SIZE_MB environment variable.

Uploaded PDFs and generated Excel files are deleted automatically after the configured cleanup window (default one hour). Download your file promptly.

Files are stored in private directories, accessed only through authenticated download tokens, and removed by automatic cleanup. Do not upload highly sensitive documents unless your deployment policies allow it.

Security & privacy

  • Files are validated by extension, declared type and PDF magic bytes before processing.
  • Uploads and outputs live in private storage — never under public/static web paths.
  • Download links require a secret token bound to your job.
  • Uploaded PDFs and generated Excel files are deleted automatically after a configurable retention period.
  • Rate limiting and filename sanitization help reduce abuse and path-traversal risks.
